CERTIFIED INTERNAL AUDITOR - CIA.
The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is a Globally Accepted Certifications for Internal Auditors. It is the standard by which individuals demonstrate their competence and professionalism in the Internal Audit Field.
CIA is administered by the Institute of Internal Auditors based in the USA. They set, monitor and administer CIA Examinations, and also set guidelines for
Certifications.
CIA Exams are available through Computer – Based - testing. You can register for the Examination any time of the year. All registrations are done online
The examination is offered in FOUR PARTS:
Education: CIA candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) or its educational equivalent from an accredited college-level institution. For further details, please see the Certifications Candidate Handbook. Please note that we will not accept any amount of experience to substitute for missing education requirements.
Character Reference: Candidates must exhibit high moral and professional character and must submit a Character Reference Form signed by a CIA, CGAP, CCSA, CFSA or the candidate's supervisor.
Work Experience: Candidates must obtain a minimum of 24 months of internal auditing experience or its equivalent. A Masters degree can substitute for 12 of the required 24 months. Please see the Certifications Candidate Handbook for more details. A completed Experience Verification Form is required. Candidates may apply to the program and sit for the exam prior to satisfying the professional experience requirement, but will not be certified until all program requirements have been met.
NB: If you are a student with any learning institution, you are entitled to a discussed, which is approved by the council. These Fees are paid directly to the Examination Body in USA.
Application FEE: ~ $ 100 (Non – Students); $ 50 for Students.
CIA EXAM Part FEE: ~ $ 200 (Non – Students); $105 for Students.
Exam Part Rescheduling Fee: ~ $ 50.

Exams aims to test a candidate’s knowledge of current Internal auditing
practices and understanding of internal audit issues, risks and
remedies.The examination is offered in FOUR PARTS:
PART ONE:
The Internal Audit Activity’s Role in Governance, Risk and Control.
PART TWO:
Conducting the Internal Audit Engagement.
PART THREE:
Business Analysis and Information Technology.
PART FOUR:
Business Management Skills.

Eligibility Period:
Effective
November 2010, the certification program’s eligibility requires
candidates to complete the program certification process within four
years of application approval. If a candidate has not completed the
certification process within four years, all fees and exam parts will be
forfeited.
